I was born in Chicago, but spent the majority of my formative years growing up in New Rochelle, New York. After graduating Syracuse University in 1980 and a short stint working for a large CPA firm in Manhattan, I left cold winters behind and moved to Scottsdale, Arizona which has been my home ever since.
I love talking to people and getting to know their life stories as well as what is important to them. In my early career, I worked as a CPA preparing tax returns. Clients began asking for independent advice on a broad range of financial issues. At the time, most financial planners were either insurance agents or stock brokers. Our clients were looking for objective advice, so we were regularly asked for not only 2nd opinions, but directly “what should I do”. I took this at my “aha” moment and studied diligently to expand my financial knowledge beyond taxation, and became a CPA financial planner. As you can see from my credentials, I am a lifetime learner, recognizing that I can always become better at my craft.
Outside my professional life, I have a passion for travel and have been to many countries in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Indonesia. I also have an extensive US commemorative stamp plate block collection. Yes, I can be a nerd!
As a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with the additional Personal Financial Specialist (PFS™) credential (which is only attainable after obtaining the CPA credential), I have over 40 years of experience advising people on issues related to Income, Wealth, Tax and IRA Planning.
